FAQ

I'm excited to tell my story, but could use some guidance, do you have any pointers?

Yes! During our Centennial Conference we ran a workshop on storytelling with Martyn Tipping of Odgis + Co. - the award-winning branding agency that redesigned our logo! You can view the recording of that workshop here at this link. 

What can my story be about?

The parameters for the stories we are looking for are quite broad. Your story should be a non-fiction piece that somehow involves the English-Speaking Union - that's it! 

I see that there will be an event presenting the stories in June, what day will it be?

The event will be on June 24th at 5:00 PM (EDT). 

Who will be judging the entries?

Adjudication of entries will be conducted by a panel of ESU constituents and renowned storytellers from across our programs and branches. 

What if my entry is longer than the prescribed length or duration for its medium?

While we hope that you will try to revise your entry to the appropriate length, we understand that some stories cannot be contained! When you submit, please send a message to stories@esuus.org if your entry will go above the word count, 1,500 words for written pieces and 500 for photographic descriptions, or the 3 minute video time limit. 

Can I submit more than one story?

While we love this type of enthusiasm, please limit submissions to just one entry.

What is the "virtual time capsule"?

The "virtual time capsule" will be an online compendium of all stories submitted during the 100 Years, 100 Stories event. It will also include a separate section on the history of the English-Speaking Union.
