Happy Immigrant Heritage Week!

National News – April 13 - 19, 2020

Immigrant Heritage Week is an annual celebration of the unique contributions and diverse cultures of immigrant communities in New York City. It is a chance to recognize the many immigrants, past and present, who have contributed their talents, skills and hard work to our city and country. In light of the current health crisis, we honor the immigrants in New York City who comprise more than 50% of this city's front-line essential workforce. They are the heroes who make us stronger.

We also send a special shout-out to members of the Andrew Romay New Immigrant Center (ARNIC), who come from more than 60 countries. We are proud to work with our ARNIC members as they build new lives in the United States. 

Immigrant Heritage Week is an initiative of the NYC Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. It recognizes April 17, 1907, when more immigrants passed through Ellis Island than any other day in history.
