Annual Appeal
Please make a tax-deductible gift to the English-Speaking Union this holiday season. Your contribution will help expand opportunity, foster intercultural understanding, and promote peace and inclusiveness.
Just this past year, gifts from our generous donors such as you benefited 60,650 members, students, teachers, volunteers, life-long English learners, scholars and new immigrants – through cultural and educational experiences and support the ESU provides:
- 550 new immigrants improved their English fluency and learned about life in the U.S. thanks to 1,500 volunteers, English in Action and the Andrew Romay New Immigrant Center.
- 46,200 high school participated in the ESU National Shakespeare Competition
- 4,200 middle school students participated in ESU's Middle-School Debate
- 3,200 educators enriched their teaching through our TLab programs.
- 2 extraordinary students from historically black colleges and universities were selected to study in Britain thanks to the Luard Morse Scholarship Program.
- 5,000 members of the English-Speaking Union in branches engaged in cultural and social events, attended lectures, traveled to special places and forged new friendships.
Please include the ESU in your year-end giving. Your support will have a real impact:
- $50 will cover transportation for one needy immigrant to attend English classes
- $100 will underwrite trophies for one of the ESU Middle School Debate leagues
- $250 fund healthy snacks for the semi-finalists in the National Shakespeare Competition
