Play Reading - The Four Mrs. Hemingways

The Four Mrs. Hemingways by Robert G Pushkar is currently in pre-production. In partnership with the Columbia University Club, we are hosting a reading of the play for our members.

Ernest Hemingway—one renowned author, four wives who loved him.  A nagging question: why?

The Four Mrs Hemingways pits each wife against him and each other in their journey to find an answer. The play examines the relationships between the true wife, the Catholic, the rival and the caretaker, while simultaneously exploring the price of loyalty, integrity, and creative genius.

The reading will be done by professional actors and feedback will be encouraged throughout.

Sunday, April 28

Boston ESU Shakespeare Competition Finals

Announcement Photo

2013 Competition Winner Anna Bortnick

On Sunday February 3, 2013, Boston was treated to ten excellent performances by Massachusetts finalists in the English Speaking Union's 30th annual High School Shakespeare Competition, held at Emerson College's Semple Theatre at the Tufte Performance Center.
The contest, co-sponsored for the first time by the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, consisted of a prepared performance of a 20-line monologue from one of Shakespeare's plays , a sonnet recitation and then a cold reading of a monologue (with only 15 minutes to prepare) by each contestant.

We are pleased to announce that this year the judges selected Anna Bortnick of Wellesley High School as the winner to represent the Boston Branch in the national finals in New York City this April.
