ANDRES DUBUS III
as
AUTHOR OF THE YEAR
on

at
THE UNION CLUB

ESU recognizes writers with a distinct voice that when combined with extraordinary use of the English language produces writing that can be most memorable and profound, enlightening and entertaining and extremely worthy of a reader's concentrated attention. Such is the voice of our ESU Author of the Year Andre Dubus Ill.

With simple, unvarnished prose, Dubus finds the extraordinary in the ordinary lives of his unforgettable characters-the bank teller, the bartender, the exotic dancer, the immigrants, the tuned-out teenager- stopped in time within his richly rendered stories.

Andre Dubus Ill is the author of six books, including the New York Times' bestsellers House of Sand and Fog, The Garden of Last Days, and his memoir, Townie. His most recent book, Dirty Love, published in the fall of 2013, was a New York Times "Notable Book" selection, a New York Times "Editors' Choice", a 2013 Notable Fiction" choice from the Washington Post, and a Kirkus "Starred Best Book of 2013".  The author will do a book signing following his presentation
