A Birthday Celebration Fit For The Queen

Donna Altieri, Basil Carpenter, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and a bagpiper greet attendees

On Sunday, June 11 members gathered at the home of Basil Carpenter and Bruce Haefner to celebrate the 91st birthday of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The day's moderate temperatures and light breezes were a welcome relief to the week's record-setting heat.

Guests were treated to live bagpipe music as they strolled through the home's beautiful gardens on their way to the covered, back patio. The afternoon tea was, once again, catered by the House of Commons and featured an assortment of tea sandwiches, scones and sweets served as an accompaniment to the tea.

Champagne glasses were filled and distributed in preparation for the toasts as a bagpipe fanfare filled the air. Branch President, Bruce Haefner first toasted U.S. President Donald Trump before offering a toast to the Lady of the day. Guests lifted their glasses in unison offering well wishes to the Queen.
