SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION
Winners 2023

The Greenwich Branch held its Shakespeare Competition on 1st March 2023 at the Greenwich Library with the following winners:

  • First Place: Ell Zirolli - Hall High School
  • Second Place: Gabrielle Tapper - Norwalk High School
  • Third Place: Theodoer Zucconi - ACES Educational Center for the Arts
  • Honorable Mention: Kira Jones - Greenwich Academy

The winner will compete in the ESU  National Shakespeare Competition at Lincoln Centre, New York, on 24 April 2023.

Meeting of the Greenwich Board of Directors will be held at The Belle Haven Club, Greenwich, at 3 pm.

Luncheon and lecture by Page Knox on THE TUDORS:  ART AND MAJESTY IN RENAISSANCE ENGLAND, recently opened exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Lunch and lecture will be held at The Round Hill Club at 12 noon.


WEDNESDAY 24 MAY 2023

Luncheon and lecture by Phillip James Dodd on The Frick Museum and some of its British paintings. Lunch and lecture will be at The Round Hill Club at 12 noon.


SUNDAY 25 JUNE 2023

Champagne celebration for 75th Birthday of His Majesty King Charles III at The Belle Haven Club at 3 pm. Winners in the 2023 Shakespeare Competition will perform their winning monologues.

Thursday 21 SEPTEMBER 2023

James O'Donnell, LVO,  British Organist and Master of Choristers at Westminster Abbey from 2000 to 2022, led the music at many royal and state occasions, including the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, lifetime Celebration for Prince Phillip, State Funeral for Queen Elizabeth II.  Mr O'Donnell is now Professor at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music.  Lunch and lecture will be at The Round Hill Club at 12 noon.


THURSDAY 12 OCTOBER 2023

Curt DiCamillo will give the story of two of England's most famous and finest houses - CASTLE HOWARD and CHATSWORTH -  the filming of Brideshead, the history of these grand houses, their glorious parks and interiors.  Lunch and lecture will be at The Round Hill Club at 12 noon.


THURSDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2023

Jan DuBois will talk about JOHN MAYNARD KEYNES, one of the most influential economists of the 20th Century.  Lord Keynes was a philosopher and public intellectual with phenomenal skill investing, who became a patron of the Bloomsbury Group, a clique of intellectual elites who influenced the culture, taste and style of the Edwardian era.  Lunch and lecture will be at The Round Hill Club at 12 noon.


SUNDAY 10 DECEMBER 2023

Christmas luncheon by the fireside at The Field Club with Christmas carols, classical and popular music by Jonathan Vaughn, Associate Director of Music, Christ Church, and Soprano  Ellen Taylor Sisson.  Lunch will be at 12 noon.
