Welcome Message
Dear Fellow ESU Members:
It's hard to believe the ESU is well on its way into a new fiscal year. As you know, at the beginning of each fiscal year we encourage all members to renew. Recently, at the end of June, I sent you an appeal asking that you renew your annual membership.
I know that it is easy to put follow-up items aside to deal with later. This is a friendly reminder that your participation is vital as we pursue our mission of linking people through the English language. This mission is one that continues to be ever more significant in today's global community. I hope you will continue your support by taking time to renew your membership now.
Why? In this our 64th year we hope to host educators from other nations who will visit to conduct research as part of the Page Scholarships. Our annual Shakespeare Recitation Contest continues to reach more local students that ever before. A variety of programs for 2015-16 includes the director of the Jacksonville Cultural Council, a speaker on the art of Vincent Van Gogh, and a lecture on the English composer, Frederick Delius, in preparation for a Spring Dinner Cruise celebrating Delius' music. As always, we will have an exciting Wrench speaker from Britain in March.
For your convenience, a renewal form and a return envelope are enclosed. You may pay by check or credit card. Please consider renewing online at our website www.esuus.org. It's easy and saves you time and postage! The ESU National office will process your payment and send you a letter to retain for tax purposes along with your membership card. By returning your dues promptly we can keep you informed of the programs which begin in September.
Remember that your dues are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Even if your opportunity to participate in our programs is limited, please consider that a substantial amount of the funds that we receive is devoted to our educational endeavors.
Cordially,
Louise Gentry, President
Jacksonville Branch
