Our Annual Holiday Brunch is just around the corner. Join ESU members and Friends of ESU for this special occasion on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 12 noon. This year's lecture program features a special guest speaker, Timothy Riley, Director and Chief Curator of the National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster College, Fulton, Mo.

Before assuming the directorship of the National Churchill Museum in 2016, Tim served as curator for the acclaimed "Paintings of Sir Winston Churchill" exhibition in St. Louis. He brings more than 20 years museum management and education leadership to his post, serving as the Executive Director of the La Crosse Public Education Foundation, Executive Director at The Trout Museum of Art, and as a development director at his alma mater, Lawrence University. Previously Tim was an educator and curatorial assistant at The Metropolitan Museum of Art at The Cloisters in New York City.

In his role at Westminster, Riley directs all aspects of the National Churchill Museum including planning and curating exhibitions in Fulton and throughout the country. He is the author of several articles about art, music, and Winston Churchill. Tim earned his bachelor of arts degree from Lawrence University before pursuing graduate work in the history of art from Columbia University in the City of New York. He was inducted into the Association of Churchill Fellows of Westminster College in 2015.

Our program will also include our First Place Shakespeare Competition winner, Trevon Wainwright, performing his Shakespeare monologue of King Henry from Henry V and Sonnet 130. Trevon won Third Place competing with 54 semi-finalists in the ESU National Shakespeare Competition Finals in New York City on May 1, 2017.

Be sure to mark your calendar for this special occasion, held again at The Grand Street Café. This is a festive gathering where we feast on award-winning food and even celebrate with traditional British crackers.

This Sunday Brunch has been acclaimed by food critics as one of the best in Kansas City.  It includes your choice of three entrees from a special Brunch menu, a selection of appetizers, salads, pastries/desserts and your choice of coffee, iced tea or soda (a cash bar for other beverages is optional). 

This will be a Sunday treat you should not miss.  We hope to see all Kansas City members at our Holiday Brunch and, of course, friends and spouses are welcome to join.
