*What is Flash Fiction? Flash fiction is a type of prose narrative that takes the form of very brief, self-contained stories. The form is unique in that, rather than focusing on plot or character development, it focuses on movement: each sentence (or even word) peels back a layer and progresses the story. While there is no set word count that separates flash fiction from more traditional short stories, flash fiction stories can be as short as a few words. Click here for examples of Flash Fiction. Remember, for our Happy Hour, the maximum is 500 words.
