Competition Update:
Sheridan Mirador,
Kansas City First Place Winner,
In Top 10 Finalists for
ESU National Shakespeare Competition

The ESU Kansas City Branch's First Place Winner, Sheridan Mirador, has moved up to one of the ten finalists in the 2020 ESU National Shakespeare Competition. Sheridan, a senior at Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri, is one of forty-nine students from ESU Branches throughout the U.S. who were semi-finalists in the National Shakespeare Competition. Sheridan's sponsoring teacher is Andrew Hanch, Center High School Theatre Teacher.

The ten finalists are:

  • Julia Kolinski, Monmouth County Branch

  • Max Mester, Philadelphia Branch
  • Sheridan Mirador, Kansas City Branch  
  • Kaia Williams, Memphis Branch
  • Adam Wilson, Charlottesville Branch

In-person performances in New York City were cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions so each student submitted a video of his or her performance. Sheridan performed the role of Romeo in a monologue from Romeo and Juliet. He also recited Sonnet 138. Watch Sheridan's performance as a semi-finalist. The first, second and third place winners will be announced April 27, 2020. Everyone in Kansas City congratulates Sheridan as one of the ten finalists. Break a leg, Sheridan!
