Teachers, educators, lifelong learners:  Study in the UK and have an unforgettable educational experience!

Our English in Action-TLab programs will transport you to the famed campuses of England and Scotland where you will attend real classes with top professors at the University of Oxford, the University of Edinburgh, Shakespeare's Globe Theater, and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

Short Courses

One-week TLab programs developed exclusively for the ESU are open to educators, current or retired, ESU members, and life-long learners.  These programs do not qualify for scholarships and registration is available online.

Programs Eligible for Scholarships

The ESU Los Angeles will award scholarship to a secondary school teacher of English, humanities, or social studies to engage in one of our longer courses of two to three weeks of formal study with the following TLab-UK programs:

Shakespeare's Globe—London (July 2-20, 2018)

University of Oxford (July & August, 2018)

University of Edinburgh (July & August, 2018)

Scholarships from the ESU Los Angeles will fully cover tuition, room, board, and airfare to one of the eligible programs.

To apply to a Scholarship Program

Complete the 2018 ESU Scholarship Application by January 5, 2018

Please note the following requirements:

  • Educators must live and work in Los Angeles County.
  • Educators must teach one or more of the following:  English, History, or Theater.
  • Educators must teach within grades 5-12.
  • Scholarship Educators must be willing to serve on the ESU-English in Action Los Angeles Board for one year post-scholarship.

Interviews will be held by invitation only on February 10, 2018
