Allen Packwood on Churchill's Relationship with ESU
News
In October the Richmond Branch hosted Allen Packwood
OBE, Director of the Churchill Archive Center at Cambridge University via Zoom for an interactive presentation on Churchill's relationship with the ESU. Members gave a Loyal toast to the Queen and had a lively discussion with Mr. Packwood.
We were honored to be joined by Her Excellency Dame Karen Pierce, DCMG, British Ambassador to the United States.
We hope that come Spring we can gather in person again!

A FALL EXCURSION TO BLACKFRIARS PLAYHOUSE*
"ROMEO AND JULIET"
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH
STAUNTON, VIRGINIA
Twenty one ESU members and guests traveled to Staunton for a performance of Shakespeare's classic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. The internationally acclaimed American Shakespeare Center performs Shakespeare's works under their original staging conditions at the 300-seat Blackfriars Playhouse, "a unique, historically accurate performance space ... a stunning re-creation of the first indoor theater in the English-speaking world." After a luncheon at Emilio's restaurant we attended the terrific performance.

Richmond ESU at Blackfriars Theater, Staunton, Virginia September 15, 2012
On a lovely September afternoon, former BUSS recipient and Board Member Linda Freeman arranged for 15 members of the Richmond branch to go to Staunton, Virginia for lunch and a matinee performance of The Merchant of Venice by the American Shakespeare Center. To everyone's delight, member John Harris had the winning raffle ticket for a poster autographed by the company. (See photo gallery.)
