2018-2019 ESU NATIONAL SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION: ROCHESTER BRANCH

The 36th Annual ESU National Shakespeare Competition: Rochester Branch will take place on March 2nd, 2019 at the Larry and Cindy Bloch Alumni and Advancement Center at the University of Rochester,  300 E River Rd, Rochester, NY 14627.  Contact Roger Janezic at rochester@esuus.org.

ROC the Sonnet

The Rochester Branch of the ESU is conducting a Shakespearean sonnet writing challenge to pair with this year's ESU National Shakespeare Competition: Rochester Branch. The sonnet challenge is open to high school students and includes a separate adult category.  This sonnet challenge is a partnership with Writers & Books, a local non-profit literary center that fosters and promotes reading and writing as lifelong activities.

Rochester Area High School Student Wins 2nd Place in the 35th Annual English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition

Eli Owns, a senior and student of Regina Darling from Penfield High School, was awarded second place overall at the English-Speaking Union's National Shakespeare Competition held on April 23, 2018.  Click here to read the full press release.

 
 

Rochester Area High School Student to Compete at Lincoln Center in New York

Elias Owens, student of Regina Darling from Penfield High School, achieved first place at the English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition Rochester Branch tournament on 3/4/2018, with a masterful and hilarious rendition of Parolles' speech on virginity from All's Well that Ends Well and a skilled interpretation of Sonnet 29, "When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes…"
