Stephen L. Kling, Jr. is a practicing attorney and president of Jenkins & Kling, P.C. in St. Louis. He obtained a master in finance and a law degree from St. Louis University and has been recognized in the peer reviewed Best Lawyers in America for over a decade.
Author, artist and long-time student of 18th-century history, particularly military history, Steve will focus on the relatively unknown story of the unsuccessful attack on St. Louis in 1780 — part of the British plan to conquer the entire Mississippi River Valley. He will relate how British Indian Department with its British officers and agents were instrumental in keeping the local Indians allied with the British and were responsible for organizing the attack on St. Louis led by Emmanuel Hesse, a local trader and former lieutenant in the British Army.

St. Louis Shakespeare Competition
News
The St. Louis Branch ESU hosted our Annual Shakespeare Competition for high school students on Saturday morning, February 3, at Fontbonne University. Twelve area schools sent students to the competition. Each participant gave his/her interpretation of a Shakespearian monologue and sonnet, and all in attendance were awed by the performances.

Alex Moore is Theatre Arts Director at Mehlville Senior High School, in St. Louis, MO. He has worked the past four years, growing the program to a full-time position and running an active after school program that is student-focused. Alex is a professional director, stage manager and actor, previously working with STAGES St. Louis, NewLine Theatre and HotCity Theatre. He was the Associate Artistic Director for Chicago Fusion Theatre for 5 seasons, before returning to St. Louis. He serves on the State Board for The Missouri Thespians and was awarded the Judith Reuthwich Missouri Theatre Educator of the Year Award for 2018. He is a passionate advocate for Arts Education and Theatre in our schools.
