Dr. Peter Horton was educated at one of England's oldest public schools, the beautiful and historic Repton School in Derbyshire, before attending the University of Cambridge for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The exterior shots of the fictional Brookfield School in the 1939 movie Goodbye Mr. Chips,  were filmed at Repton. Approximately 200 boys stayed back that summer to be extras in the movie for which Robert Donat won an Oscar for Best Actor. Notable Old Reptonians include Harold Abrahams (100 m Gold Medalist 1924 Olympics), Roald Dahl (author), Christopher Isherwood (novelist and screenwriter), Basil Rathbone (actor) and Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear presenter and journalist) and Michael Ramsey (Archbishop of Canterbury).

Dr. Horton is currently an associate professor of surgery at St. Louis University Hospital performing life saving liver, kidney and pancreas transplants and hepatobiliary surgery. He has lived in St. Louis with his wife Christine, son 

Tom (18) and West Highland White terrier, Macallan, since 2011 but enjoys visiting Repton when back in England.
