He has worked in the brewing industry for over 30 years, as Director of Brewing Research for Anheuser Busch Inc. and as a consultant to the craft brewing industry. Professor Pringle's current teaching responsibilities at Maryville University include biotechnology and applied microbiology.
In his presentation, Professor Pringle will describe the origins of four modern British beers, beginning with brief explanations of the brewing process and the flavors contributed by the ingredients. The story of the four beers will be followed, from medieval ales to modern classic styles. Each story will include both technical and historical details, as well as myths. And, at each of the luncheon tables, the professor will provide samples of the four brews for tasting.
