Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, born April 21, 1926, will celebrate her 90th birthday in 2016. She acceded to the throne of the United Kingdom in 1952, beginning a reign that is second only to Queen Victoria's in length. She has faithfully kept her promise to devote her whole life to her people and country and has earned the respect and affection of her countrymen.
