Alex Moore is Theatre Arts Director at Mehlville Senior High School, in St. Louis, MO. He has worked the past four years, growing the program to a full-time position and running an active after school program that is student-focused. Alex is a professional director, stage manager and actor, previously working with STAGES St. Louis, NewLine Theatre and HotCity Theatre. He was the Associate Artistic Director for Chicago Fusion Theatre for 5 seasons, before returning to St. Louis. He serves on the State Board for The Missouri Thespians and was awarded the Judith Reuthwich Missouri Theatre Educator of the Year Award for 2018. He is a passionate advocate for Arts Education and Theatre in our schools.

As St. Louis Branch TLab Scholar last year, Alex spent 3 weeks in July 2017 studying with 22 English and Theatre Teachers, at the Globe Theatre in London. He spent this time, learning from Globe masters of text, voice, movement and education, how to use innovative and creative methods to put Shakespeare into the hands of 21st Century learners.

After returning from his Globe experience, Alex has taught district and state-wide Professional Development programs on teaching Shakespeare. For his presentation to our branch, Alex will be joined by his Melville High School students, as he walks them through practices he learned at the Globe, which these students are now able to use as they prepare to produce Macbeth.

Also on the program will be the winners of our recent St. Louis Branch Shakespeare Competition, who will perform their winning monologues and sonnets. They will perform again at  the celebration of Shakespeare's birthday on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Shakespeare Statue in Tower Grove Park, near Center Cross and Main Drive. All are welcome to attend this program and to enjoy the complimentary reception following.
