Each year the Atlanta Branch provides funds for summer internships for students at the Education Department of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company. This year we supported 4 college interns who are in their final years at Southern Methodist, Agnes Scott and Florida State. As interns their primary jobs centered around teaching the younger students who attend the summer sessions. Here is a quote from Aliya Kraar, a rising senior at FSU:
"Working with the Shakespeare Intensive for Teens this summer has been an amazing hands-on learning experience for me. Not only was I able to dive into the works of Shakespeare but I also gained incredible directorial and managerial experience. Personally, I feel like I learned so much through osmosis in the classroom. The directors guided, accepted and pushed young artists in a wonderful way which instilled confidence and created mutual trust. This type of artistic atmosphere reminds me of why I fell in love with the arts and I'm so grateful I got to be a part of such an influential process."
