Winner of the 2013 Chicago Shakespeare Competition

ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE
For teen from New Trier High School

Chicago, February 25, 2013 – Hannah Antman from Wilmette, a student of Hilerre Kirsch at New Trier in Winnetka, IL, won the English-Speaking Union's Chicago Branch regional Shakespeare competition. Hannah Antman qualified by competing in her school Shakespeare competition at New Trier High School.

Twenty schools participated in the Branch's Competition. Students, teachers, parents and ESU members gathered in the beautiful Ganz Hall to observe students competing for scholarship prize money and an opportunity to advance to the finals held in New York City. Judges from Chicago's theatre community were impressed with the level of professionalism and talent displayed by each student making the the decision to select the finalists a difficult one. The two runners up who were granted scholarship funds and awards were:

2nd - Talia Weiss of Evanston Township High School
3rd - Rachel Sepiashvili of Niles North High School

Hannah Antman impressed the panel of esteemed judges and captivated the audience with her performance of Helena from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and her recitation of Sonnet 149. In addition to receiving a prize award of $1,500, she will go on to represent the Chicago area as a semi-finalist at National competition, which will be held on April 22nd at the world-renowned performing arts complex, Lincoln Center.

It was a wonderful day for all who participated and supported the Competition.
