Analyzing ESU's Educational Programming—A Look to the Future
Do our programs suit tomorrow's communities' needs? If we put our programs in broad categories, are there obvious gaps or areas for growth? How can we expand the depth of our programs that focus on the English language? We will examine the scope and range of our programs.

ESU National Programs: Shakespeare Competition &
Evelyn Wrench Speaker Programs
As the ESU National Shakespeare Competition enters its 38th year, several changes and improvements have been instituted in order to accommodate students and teachers and to better serve the Branches. The National Finals will take place remotely following the same format that it did in 2020. Hear the details in store for 2021, particularly those identified for branch level competitions.

Named in honor of the English-Speaking Union's founder, the Evelyn Wrench Speaker Program sends eminent British and American speakers across the country each year to the ESU Branches who host their presentations. Wrench speakers address topics relating to current events, history, language and literature, art and architecture, and travel. Regional tours of Wrench speakers are underwritten by the ESU National Headquarters and planned in cooperation with the Branches. As all Speaker events are currently virtual, this session will address program components once the presentations return to in-person at Branch meetings.
