Cathy Hampton was a Political Science major at Spelman College when she used her Luard Scholarship to study at Oxford University. Kathy graduated from Spelman Summa Cum Laude, and received her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1993.

NOW

She is an attorney with Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting System. She serves on the boards of Youth Communication and Women's Resource Center in Atlanta, and is active in Big Sisters, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, Hands in Atlanta, and the Atlanta Black-Jewish Coalition.

When I reflect on my amazing journey of travel, academic study, public service, and law practice, I realize the first step was my Luard Scholarship experience. The English-Speaking Union offered a young girl from Magnolia, Mississippi (population 2,500) the opportunity to study, learn, and fly! I returned an independent, critical thinker without limits."
