The Kansas City Branch of the English-Speaking Union cordially invites all members and guests to a matinee performance of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. This is a script-in-hand performance and is produced by The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, directed by Sidonie Garrett.

Performance Ticket Price: $25 per person.

After the performance, our ESU group will meet at Ricco's Italian Bistro just east of the College for a casual light meal or appetizers to discuss the play.

While this performance is not until late March, it is expected to sell out and tickets are on sale now. We recommend contacting Deborah McArdle as soon as possible to reserve your seat.

One of Kansas City's great Shakespearian actors stars in The Tempest—John Rensenhouse.  We invite you to journey with our ESU group to experience this historic production presented by the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.

The Tempest, a romantic comedy, is set on a remote island, where the sorcerer Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skillful manipulation. He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. There, his machinations bring about revelations, redemption and romance, with a cast of time-honored Shakespearean characters: heroes, villains, a princess and a magician. John Rensenhouse (left) stars as Prospero.
