58 students compete at the English-Speaking Union's 31st Annual National Shakespeare Competition at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center in New York City. Makenna Lockhart, ESU Kansas City's 1st Place Winner is on the front row, third in from the left. ESU-US Chairman, Josiah Bunting III, is in the back row, 5th from the left. New York City Mayor, Bill De Blasio, proclaimed May 5, 2014 as "William Shakespeare Day 2014" in honor of the English-Speaking Union's National Shakespeare Competition held at Lincoln Center, New York City.
MaKenna Lockhart, KC First Place Winner in 2014 Shakespeare Competition traveled to New York City to compete in the National Shakespeare Competition Semi-Finals and finals. MaKenna's family joined her in NYC to watch her performance at Lincoln Center.
