Schools: Sign-Up for the 2015 Shakespeare Competition By Dec. 15

We invited schools serving Grades 9-12 in the New York City area (including Westchester and Long Island) to participate in the 2015 Shakespeare Competition. In this free program, high school students nationwide read, analyze, perform and recite Shakespearean monologues and sonnets in as many as three qualifying stages: school, community (ESU Branch) and national levels. 

Program Registration (until December 15, 2014):  To sign-up your school, please complete the 2015 School Participation Form.  Early submissions are encouraged. Note:  If you need an extension on the deadline, please notify us.

School Competition (tentatively by February 9, 2015): 
All students must select, memorize and perform a monologue from the 2015 Monologues PacketNo other monologue selections will be considered for this year's competition.  School competitions should be completed absolutely no later than February 9, 2015.

Branch/Community Competition (February &March 2015): The winner of your school competition must present a sonnet (in addition to their monologue). Students can select any sonnet from Shakespeare's 154 sonnet cycle. Suggestions can be found in the 2015 Sonnets Packet

Preliminary rounds are tentatively scheduled for the afternoons of February 24-26, 2015 at the New York Public Library in Bryant Park. Finals take place the afternoon of March 10, 2015 at The Morgan Library & Museum (midtown Manhattan). Note: At the finals, students also present a cold reading of a monologue (in addition to their other selections).

National Competition:  The winner of the New York Branch Competition advances to the National Competition (tentatively scheduled for April 26-28, 2015).  Read more about last year's National Competition
