Luard Morse Scholarships

Gregory W. Buck, Ph.D.

Luard Scholar 1978 - 1979
Morehouse College - - University of Edinburgh

THEN

Gregory W. Buck was a biology major at Morehouse College when he used his Luard Scholarship to study at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1978-79 academic year. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Morehouse, and received both his MS in 1992 and Ph.D. in 1999 from Georgia State University.

NOW

After serving as a research fellow with the Department of Pathology at the Emory University School of Medicine, Gregory is now an Assistant Professor of Biology and Microbiology with Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi.

The Luard Scholarship broadenedmy horizons and allowed me to see that the world is much bigger than a neighborhood in Southwest Atlanta. I owe the Luard a great deal - my first airplane flight, first train ride, first time away from home, first time away from the US - all the result of being selected a Luard scholar.
