Luard Scholar 1973 - 1974
Morehouse College - - Durham University

THEN

"Oliver Wendell Holmes once said that, 'a person's mind, once stretched by some new idea can never again return to its old dimensions.' I can find no better words to express my feelings of open-ness and resilience after a year in Durham, England."

NOW

"I still use that quote today. I take great pride in being a Luard Scholar and appreciate The English-Speaking Union for sustaining and continuing this work. One person can and does make a difference. Donating to the Luard Scholarship is an investment in individuals who are thought leaders of our future."

Currently Dr. Robert Franklin is President of Morehouse College, author of three books, provides commentary for NPR and weekly commentary for Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasting Television.
