Middle School Public Debate Program

May 2018 Professional Development

Let's change the tenor of critical discussions in our country and prepare our students to be productive citizens. We invite teachers to a workshop on Teaching Debate and Argumentation. Curriculum materials and a certificate for 6 hours of PD will be provided.

There are two opportunities:

Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Hackley School in Tarrytown (Click here to register for May 9.)

This workshop is part of the English-Speaking Union's collaboration with the High School Public Debate League. Together we sponsor the New York Debate League (comprised of nearly 30 public, charter, parochial and independent schools) as well as leagues in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and elsewhere in the U.S. and East Africa.

We hope you will join us to learn more about integrating debate into your classroom curriculum, debate and the Common Core (speaking and listening; argumentation; using informational texts) as well as how to develop a debate program in your school. Each event will run from 8:30am to 3pm. Cost: $75
